Fearless females needed for expedition

Are you a courageous woman of 21 or older, and able to take eight months off to trek through Africa and Europe? Then the Mitsubishi Africa Adventure Cape to Cape Expedition is looking for you!

Applicants from all walks of life are invited for the expedition which kicks off on International Women's Day (March 8) next year from the continent's southernmost tip at  Cape Agulhas, to conclude at Nordkap in Norway - the northernmost tip of Europe - in October 2009.

Only eight successful applicants will qualify for the expedition that will see them traversing 14 African and an equal number of European countries for eight months.
“Just another trip through Africa - nothing out of the ordinary,” you might think. “But this adventure will be undertaken by a small group of fearless women that will promote tourism to the most alluring continent, so it suddenly becomes something extraordinary!" enthuses trip organiser Enya Fehler of the Plett-based Africa Adventure company.

The all-women expedition also has the unreserved endorsement of Environmental Affairs and Tourism minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk, who congratulated the organisers on their initiative to promote tourism to Africa.

Applications have been rolling in from South African, Australia and Germany, some of which have made it through to the pre-selection process. These finalists will be included in the final selection workshop to be held in Plettenberg Bay in June. But the closing date for entries is less than a month away, on February 28.
