Cape to Cape with girl power

An eight-month expedition, the Mitsubishi Africa Adventure Cape to Cape Expedition, from Cape Agulhas, South Africa, to Nordkap in Norway will kick off in March next year.
Eighteen women who have been selected for their physical stamina will take part in a 40 000km journey in specially adapted 4x4 vehicles. |
The expedition will promote South Africa as a prime tourism destination and show what it has to offer.
Marthinus van Schalkwyk , minister of tourism and environmental affairs, said: “This initiative will go a long way in showcasing what we have as a continent and what South Africa can offer as a country.”
Candidates will be finalised after an eleven-day workshop in May and June that will test their endurance. The expedition will end in November 2009. |
